The International Catholic Conference of Scouting (ICCS) mourns with gratitude and affection the passing of Fr. Léo Armand LeBlanc, who devoted more than five decades of his life and priestly ministry to Scouting, in the United States and internationally.
Active in Scouting since 1963 and based in Manchester, New Hampshire, Fr. Léo served Catholic Scouting at diocesan, national and international levels. He was NCCS National Chaplain (1992–1995), served for many years as NCCS Region 1 Chaplain, was ICCS Americas/Inter-America Region Chaplain (c. 2002–2009), and later ICCS World Chaplain (2006–2014).
In 2015, his decades of dedicated service to Scouting were recognized by the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) with the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award.
Fr. Léo’s long and generous service left a lasting mark on ICCS and on the many young people whose faith he helped to nurture through Scouting. We remember with gratitude his dedication, his priestly presence and his commitment to the mission of Catholic Scouting.
Our future is also built on gratitude for those who have gone before us and whose service continues to bear fruit.
May he rest in peace, and may the merciful Father welcome him into the eternal camp.
