JAMREC 2026: 1,255 Young People Mobilised for the Environment and Solidarity
Conakry, Guinea — 13–22 August 2026 — Under the theme “Moving Forward Together Towards the Future!” and with the slogan “Wontanara,” the 2nd Regional Jamboree of Conakry (JAMREC 2026) successfully came to a close, bringing together 1,255 young people around the values of fraternity, solidarity, civic engagement and environmental protection.
For ten days, young people from the different communes of Conakry and the surrounding region took part in a rich programme of educational, cultural, sporting and civic activities. The jamboree also welcomed delegations from Mali, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Guinea-Bissau, strengthening the bonds of friendship and fraternity among young Scouts across the region.
Planting Trees for the Future
One of the highlights of JAMREC 2026 was the tree-planting and reforestation initiative, which brought young people together around a concrete action for the environment.
A total of 70 trees were planted. Through this initiative, participants made a direct contribution to environmental protection while increasing awareness of deforestation, climate change and the importance of preserving green spaces.
The initiative perfectly reflected the spirit of the theme “Moving Forward Together Towards the Future!”: taking action together today to help create a healthier environment for future generations.
Planting a tree is more than a symbolic gesture. It represents a concrete commitment by young people to protecting nature and promoting a more sustainable future.
A Jamboree Driven by Solidarity and Action
Alongside the tree-planting initiative, JAMREC 2026 also featured several civic and solidarity projects:
- Blood Donation: with the support of UNFPA, 35 bags of blood were collected for the benefit of the Kindia Regional Maternity Hospital, helping contribute to saving lives.
- Plastic Waste Collection: 28 bags of plastic waste were collected, helping create a cleaner environment and raising awareness among young people about the impact of plastic pollution.
Together, these initiatives demonstrate how Scouting can be a powerful force for civic engagement, giving young people opportunities to turn their values into concrete action.
Amis de la Terre Supporting an Engaged Youth
The strong environmental focus of JAMREC 2026 also provided an opportunity to strengthen connections with organisations committed to protecting our planet.
On this occasion, Amis de la Terre was pleased to present a certificate, recognising the commitment and mobilisation of young people around the environmental and civic initiatives carried out during the jamboree.
This recognition highlights the important role young people can play in building a more sustainable future. It also demonstrates the value of collaboration between youth organisations, environmental actors and partners working to protect the environment.
A Celebration of Fraternity and Scouting
JAMREC 2026 featured a wide range of activities, including cultural campfires, sporting competitions, large-scale games, meetings, moments of sharing, a closing ball and an awards ceremony.
The strong mobilisation of partners, media organisations, leaders, volunteers and participating delegations contributed greatly to the success of this second edition.
The Regional Commissionerate of Conakry extends its sincere thanks to all delegations, partners, leaders, volunteers and the communications team for their contribution to the success of the event.
A Generation Moving Forward Together
Through JAMREC 2026, young people once again demonstrated their ability to mobilise and take concrete action for their communities and the environment.
By planting 70 trees, collecting plastic waste and participating in a blood donation campaign, the participants gave concrete meaning to the values of solidarity, responsibility and commitment at the heart of Scouting.
“Moving Forward Together Towards the Future!” was therefore more than a theme: it became a genuine call to action.
