A meeting is when two or more people come together to discuss one or more topics, often in a formal or business setting, but meetings also occur in a variety of other environments. Meetings can be used as a form of group decision-making and as a setting for sharing of information or even we hold a meeting to celebrate our accomplishments and success.
We as Scout Leaders we share the same reality: We are all surrounded most of the time by meetings: Meetings are almost always and at all levels of the movement locally, Nationally and even Regionally: either to Discuss or to Plan or to Execute or finally to Evaluate. It is evident that we need to reconcile with our prejudgments on meetings particularly with regular weekly or even monthly meetings. The main purpose of this editorial is to discover the beauty and charm of meetings, to enjoy every single moment of our future meetings and to convert our meetings into joyful moments of encounter with friends and colleagues.
First : Follow the Criteria of successful meetings
Whether you lead a meeting or attend a meeting make sure that meeting Agenda is distributed beforehand to ensure that attendees get prepared with ideas about topics that will be discussed and are ready for decision making so the meeting becomes productive and fruitful. Meeting minutes follow up is mandatory. Attending progressive advancing meetings for sure will make you happy because you are part of advancement.
Second: Be involved during meetings and committed in-between meetings
When you are prepared to present the tasks of the previous meeting, engaged yourself in discussions and decision making and ready to go for the extra mile with your colleagues. All these will help you and others to discover the strength of such momentum and value such ever-growing bond with your colleagues. Attending meetings with similar attitude for sure will make you happy because your commitment will bear fruit and you will become a driving force to success.
Third: Must learn something new in every meeting
This is crucial because learning new things from your colleagues and discovering new realities will help you to be positioned in the center of your organization’s vision and mission. Teams and committees are the crucible where complementary knowledge and competences are overflowing to ensure that we are all on the right track. Can you imagine yourself influenced and learning at every single meeting and consequently you become a catalyst by offering a transformation to other members. Being the reason for positive change will make you enchanted and super happy, as this is all about real leadership.
Last : Celebrate team achievements
Either you played your part towards success or may be others did their part individually or with other team members; at the end we should celebrate such accomplishments and achievements and we must not let them go unnoticeable without showing reasonable joy and solemnity.
You as an active participant of meetings will convert your meetings into a Journey of transformation and continuous improvement . Successful meetings aren’t about sitting through long agendas; they are moments where diverse minds synchronize. When a team’s collective energy aligns, the impossible turns into progress, transforming simple conversations into powerful launchpads for innovation and action.
