PRESS RELEASE

Rome, November 2025 — The International Catholic Conference of Scouting (ICCS) will gather representatives of 25 Scout associations from four continents for the Leaven in the Dough Seminar, held in Frascati (Rome) from 15–20 November 2025.

The seminar is the first stage of the three-year project Leaven in the Dough (2024–2027), supported by Porticus. The initiative seeks to promote the integral formation of children and young people, helping leaders unite the Scout Method with the transforming leaven of the Gospel and the person of Jesus Christ, so that Scouting may continue shaping communities marked by human dignity, service, and hope.

Participants will take part in conferences, workshops, and shared prayer around the theme “Driving Social Change through Scouting.”

A central moment of the week will be the Jubilee Pilgrimage to the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica on 18 November, as participants unite in prayer and communion with the universal Church during the Jubilee Year 2025. That same evening, the session “Building Bridges between the Church and Scouting” will take place with Mons. Dario Gervasi, Deputy Secretary of the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life, together with members of the ICCS World Committee. On this occasion, Georges Ghorayeb and Christian Larcher will receive the Pontifical Order of St. Gregory the Great.

The seminar will include contributions from:

Through this initiative, ICCS reinforces its identity as a bridge between the Catholic Church and the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), which today includes over 60 million members in more than 200 countries and territories.
