Ten years after the publication of the Encyclical Letter LAUDATO SI, we are invited to increase our actions in protection of creation and community and social responsibility in the face of the adversities that our common home is experiencing.
For this month of September, Pope Leo XIV calls on us, saying that “in Christ we are seeds. Not only that, but “seeds of peace and hope”, thus deepening the message of the Jubilee of Hope, strongly affirming that every human being participates in the dynamism of creation, bringing hope that springs forth in inhospitable places.
“Many times, Jesus, in his preaching, uses the image of the seed to speak of the Kingdom of God, and on the eve of the Passion he applies it to himself, comparing himself to the grain of wheat, which must die to bear fruit (cf. Jn 12:24). The seed gives itself completely to the earth, and there, with the impetuous force of its gift, life springs forth, even in the most unexpected places, with a surprising capacity to generate the future. Think, for example, of the flowers that grow on the side of the road: no one has planted them, and yet they grow thanks to seeds that have arrived there almost by chance and manage to adorn the grey asphalt and even break its hard surface. Pope Leo XIV
We invite everyone to rediscover hope in creation, ‘our common home is also like a sister’ (Laudato SI, No.1)
