(Hong Kong)  The Cub Scout Religious Badge (Catholic) Course was held on the 8th June 2025, at the Hong Kong Scout Centennial Memorial Building. The training course aimed to deepen the Catholic knowledge and understanding, as well as promote spiritual development among young Cub Scout members through various activities, games and prayers.  Over 30 Cub Scouts and leaders participated in the course. Both Catholic and non-Catholic Cub Scouts were welcome to join, as this is part of the missionary work within the scouting community.

The training session featured a series of engaging activities designed to introduce the core teachings of the Catholic faith and encourage participants to practice these principles in their daily lives. The Cub Scouts learnt how to use a Bible, understood proper conduct inside the church, and were able to name the Pope and the Bishop of Hong Kong. The course not only educated Cub Scouts about their faith but also inspired them to become messengers of the Gospel in their communities.  Several Catholic leaders from different Scout groups volunteered as instructors, providing guidance and inspiration throughout the course.

Rev. Deacon Peter Leung, the Chaplain of the Catholic Girl Guides and Scout Guild, led the group in prayer, fostering a sense of spirituality and unity among all attendees.  He emphasized the importance of nurturing faith and reminded the Cub Scouts to live according to the Gospel while sharing God’s love through kindness, service and evangelization.

This event marked an important step in encouraging young Cub Scouts to grow spiritually and strengthen their religious commitments, while also fostering a sense of community and faith-based service within the scouting movement. Separate KIRO Catholic training programs for Scouts and Venture Scouts will be held later this year.
