From May 16 to 18, the Vice President of the Region, Michael Van Craen, and the Regional Chaplain, Father Claudio Fasulo, visited the Romanian association, a recent member of the ICCS. The visit was very fruitful and enriching. The meetings took place in a harmonious and constructive atmosphere, beginning on Saturday morning with the clergy of the Bucharest Cathedral, where they discussed the development of the Catholic faith within scouting. In the afternoon, the meeting with the president, the international commissioner, and other members of the Romanian association’s national council clarified certain points of vision and support that ICCS can offer to their leaders and chaplains.

The afternoon was also marked by a private audience with the auxiliary bishop of Bucharest. For over an hour, Father Claudio and Michael shared the strategic importance of attentive pastoral care and proposed training programs for passing on the Catholic faith and the Gospel to spiritual leaders and regional chaplains.

On Sunday morning, Father Claudio was able to celebrate Mass in one of the largest parishes in Bucharest, where local scouts animated the celebration. At the end, a meeting with the local scout leaders made this institutional visit to the Romanian association even more special and inspiring. Without a doubt, the enthusiasm and deep desire to grow in faith through scouting make this meeting a key moment for the growth and synergy between ICCS and the associations of the Europe-Mediterranean region.
