Lenten Message from Abbé Eric Paulin Djalang BASSENE – ICCS Chaplain for West Africa

Dear Scout leaders,

As we enter the season of Lent, Saint Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 5:20–6:2 (the second reading for Ash Wednesday) that this is a favorable time for each of us to reconnect with our Lord.

Lent is a time of grace given to us by the Church, calling us to remember the 40 days Christ Jesus spent in the desert.

As Scouts, we are invited to prepare for the feast of Easter through a profound conversion of heart and life.

Traditionally marked by prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, Lent is much more than a religious discipline. It is a journey of transformation, allowing us to renew our essential bonds with God, with ourselves, and with others.

Dear Scout leaders, Lent is a sacred time of reconnection, where we are all invited to restore and deepen our relationship with our first Leader, Jesus Christ.

Wishing you a blessed and holy Lenten season!
