November was marked by memorable celebrations for the Scouts of Brazil, honouring 100 years of history of an institution that since 1924 has been engaged in training young citizens to build a more just and fraternal society. Although the official date of this commemoration was to be on the 4th of November, the whole year 2024 has been dedicated to festivities all around the country. Among these events, the meeting in Rio de Janeiro, held earlier this month, played a central role.
On November 2nd, a diner gathered members, leaders and guests to celebrate the centennial. This moment of brotherhood enabled to share memorable memories and pay tribute to those who shaped the history of the movement. The evening was marked by ceremonies highlighting the heritage and engagement of the Brazilian scouts, underlining the sustainable impact of this institution.
On November 3rd, the Shrine of Christ the Redeemer hosted a solemn mass at dawn, dedicated to the generations of scouts who influenced the lives of many young people in Brazil. In the evening, a special projection illuminated Christ the Redeemer, symbolizing the heritage and values of the Scouts of Brazil. These events were made possible thanks to the support of the local Scout Region, the Shrine of Christ the Redeemer, and Toyota Riozen, who provided a vehicle to facilitate logistics.
A highlight of the festivities has been the launch of the centennial commemorative medal, designed in partnership with the Brazilian Munt.
Available in limited editions, in silver (200 exemplars) and in bronze (400 exemplars), this medal features the symbol “+100”, reflecting the impact of the movement. Each medal is unique and unreproducible after the destruction of its coin, making it a prized collector’s item. The medals can be acquired on the website of the Mint.
To conclude the month, a solemn session at the Federal Senate was held on the 25th of November, testifying to the importance of the Scouts of Brazil and their transformative role in society.
Finally, the initiative of planting 100 000 trees throughout the year, is progressing with 62 000 trees already planted. This project embodies the commitment for a greener Brazil and invites everyone to participate to this collective effort for a sustainable future.
