On 13 May 2023, The Procession of Our Lady of Fatima took place in Macau which was organized by the Local Catholic Church.

Macau scouts and leaders took part with thousands of Catholic faithful in this procession.

Before the procession, the Solemn Mass for Our Lady of Fatima was celebrated in St Dominic’s Church by the Bishop of the Diocese of Macau – Stephen Lee Bun Sang; Head of the Holy See Study Mission Hong Kong – Msgr. José Luis Díaz-Mariblanca Sánchez also came along to Macau to especially concelebrate the Mass and took part in the procession.

During the procession, the Bishop of the Diocese of Macao, members of the clergy, two girls and a boy attired in Portuguese traditional costumes(representing the shepherd children who witnessed the apparitions)and a vast number of local and foreign worshippers accompany a statue of the Virgin Mary that was carried by female Catholics dressed in white, passing from St. Dominic’s Church up to the Chapel of Our Lady of Penha Hill where Bishop Lee presided an adoration through the exposition of the blessed sacrament, followed by the benediction for all Catholics on-site and entire Macau. Then, he led the prayer of the “Consecration to Our Lady” in Chinese and Portuguese bilingually. The procession was completed under singing the hymn “Our Lady of Fatima”.

The Procession of Our Lady of Fátima first took place in Macao in 1929 and since 2019 has been regarded by local authorities as part of Macao’s Intangible Cultural Heritage.
