The ICCS was well represented in Canada at Camp Awacamenj Mino in the Province of Quebec, just north of the national capital, Ottawa.
Three ICCS priests were present in various capacities .Don Luca Meacci, AGESCI, with assistance of Fr. David Kennealey, Scouts of Ireland, celebrated the opening Sunday Eucharist.
Fr. Leo LeBlanc, World Chaplain, presided at the Eucharist for the feast of the Assumption of Mary on August 15, assisted by Frs. Luca and David with a choir form AGESCI.
Fr. Leo staffed the Faith and Belief Zone along with representatives of several other religions. Our site was a good central one at the chapel. He had the opportunity to speak with numerous Rovers from many of the 70 countries represented.
A highlight of the multi-faceted program was an interreligious service at 5 am, around a large campfire animated by “First Nation” members. They are indigenous people who introduce others to their spirituality and traditions. Representatives of the various organized religions participated by offering prayers and songs in various languages. The whole event was impressive including the fact that over 400 scouts were participants at a program that began so early.
Scouts du Canada, an ICCS member, can be pleased with the excellent Moot, gracious hospitality, and beautiful setting for this world event.
