The Brotherhood of Saint George was established by the World Conference of the ICCS at the Council in Benediktbeuem, Germany, in 1985, and it was subsequently recognized by the Catholic Church.
As a Brotherhood the members try to live out of the spirit of Catholic Scouting Becoming a member means the “appreciation of the exceptional contribution” that has been given through international scouting to the education of young people, to the development of their personality, faith and personal involvement in society. In the spirit of Baden Powell, the ICCS appreciates and encourages the participation in the world-wide brotherhood of the scout movement.
Membership of the Brotherhood is open to both men and women and to both lay and clerical members of the Catholic Church.
Members of the Brotherhood of Saint George endeavour to live the spirit of Catholic Scouting, cognizant of the exceptional contribution that Scouting gives to the education of young people and to the development of their personalities, faith and involvement in society.
