Scouts and the Global Catholic Climate Movement

messenger_peaceThe International Conference of Catholics in Scouting joined the Global Catholic Climate Movement (GCCM) to help advance the Pope’s Laudato Si message ahead of the Paris Climate Summit in late November.

Care for the environment has long been an important part of the teachings of the Church and of the Scouting tradition, and now with Pope Francis’ Laudato Si encyclical, our call to stewardship of the planet is stronger than ever. And this year, 2015, is especially important given the upcoming United Nations negotiations on climate change (COP21) in Paris in late November. The stakes are amazingly high, as it is our last opportunity to avoid the worst impacts of climate change, which will hardly hit those who had nothing to do with it: our children and grandchildren, and the poorest among us.
We urge world leaders to commit to ambitious climate action and solve this urgent moral crisis. Pope Francis said: “On climate change, there is a clear, definitive and ineluctable ethical imperative to act.” If you agree, click “Yes” below:”

As Messenger of Peace, help us promote the Catholic Climate Petition by collecting signatures with your Scout group in your parish, diocese or community, by printing this petition sheet (children can sign the Youth Petition sheet).
