Msgr. Mario Aurelio Poli, Archbishop of Buenos Aires

164067_1716010773985_1049680529_3100339_5041246_n_resizePope Francis has chosen Bishop Mario Aurelio Poli to succeed him as Archbishop of Buenos Aires, in the first episcopal appointment of his fledgling pontificate. The 65-year-old native of the Argentine capital was an auxiliary bishop under then-Cardinal Jorge Bergolio before being named ordinary of the Diocese of Santa Rosa in 2008. Archbishop Poli has degrees in law and social sciences and social service in addition to a doctorate in theology. He has been a theology professor and seminary formator, as well as a parish priest.
Msgr. Poli, National Chaplain of the Scout Association of Argentine, attended as a key-speaker the last ICCS World Seminar, celebrated in January 2011 in Curitiba, Brazil. (see picture)
